Well, maybe great minds do run along similar tracks; but, then again, I
can't help but wonder why it occured to me also<g> The idea of doing two
sides and sealing together or just drilling, milling and making oil and
coolant paths where necessary, plugging where necessary as well and
going
from there; or, even doing thin steel sheets to fit over aluminum center
section or even furnace braze all stamped steel for each housing
just seems
well worth while for those more talented than I.

The hollow section is done using plaster like material mould with latex
or rubber mould. Then the Cast Iron is poured. What you can do is cut a
housing in half, and use it as a female mould. Then the plaster mould is
moulded inside the aluminium housing. Then water can be used to dissolve
the plaster like material (paraplast). This should be heated to 600F and
then poured in the mould.
