What are those little ports in the rotor housing on the RX8 engine? They
look like small P-ports, no?

It appears they go all the way through to the inside -- you can see that
some material is hogged out from the housing.

They don't go all the way through.

I believe that is high pressure air injection into the exhaust manifold.
Perhaps for cooling purposes or perhaps to light off the cat sooner
when the engine is cold.

According to page eight of my 2003 Rotary engine Press information book I
quote "   ..in addition the RENESIS is equipped with a new Jet Air-Fuel
Mixing System that strongly promotes the dispersion and mixing of fuel. The
system utilizes port air bleed in the intake part to effectively speed the
flow of air over the intake port walls and boost atomization of fuel
particles adhering to them. The lower end of the intake port is also
shape-optimized to promote movement of fuel along the air stream towards the
spark plug, achieving ideal mixing conditions for air and fuel."

The illustration shows the injector spraying down into the port and a small
tube on the bottom of the intake manifold shooting high velocity air.

That is a different device. I don't think that is what Gordon is talking
about. Only works at low power.
