The fuel pump you recommended uses hose clamps and the outlet side is
short and can only accommodate one clamp, I'm going to see if I can
find some with NPT or AN fittings. Incidently, That $100.00 pump looks
exactly like the one in Summit Racing Catolog for $167.00.
Didn't you get fuel flow readings when you had the 13B on the dyno? I
need a ball park figure for when I flow my needle valve. Karibian

It is 25 gallons an hour full power and 10 gallons an hour cruise.
I don't see how that needle valve is going to give uniform flow in
all those tubes. I can't see inside of it. Can you make a sketch?

    Karibian,

Good to see you are forging ahead with the mechanical fuel
injection. It looks like a low-pressure system with no return flow.     With six injectors you should get good fuel atomization, even with
    low pressure.

If this works, it will provide others with a template for a simple     fuel solution with cockpit mixture adjustment.

Btw, is this an RX8 engine? I thought two of the injectors on the
RX8 were right on the housings?

    Regards,

    Gordon.

Paul,

You asked me to remind you to dissect the one-way check valve on your
Walbro-type pump to see if it might need a secondary backup check valve.

Scott Gettings

Yes Scott. Thanks for reminding me. Unfortunately I am in LA today for a trip
to Mazdatrix so I will
be back tonight where the Walbro pump is. As I recall I did not see a one way
valve in the Walbro pump. But I will double check tonight.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Looking at this picture I think I see what is going on. When the pump motor is
stopped it is a quasi positive displacement pump in that the rotor is close fitting
in the housing. So fuel finds it hard to flow backwards through the pump
without spinning the motor. I suspect given enough pressure fuel WOULD flow
backwards spinning the motor. Particularly if the pump is damaged by running
it dry. In that case the rotor would partially wear away and allow some fuel to
leak past. This also explains why it does not suck well.

Best to use an external, true one way valve.

The last jpg is the MDS pump I recommend. Sorry about the intake fitting not being
AN.

I just checked and the Walbro's do have a one way ball valve in the output port.

BTW I just bought a 4 port RX8 motor for the RX8 P-port test engine.
I got a good deal because nobody wants a RX8 4 port rotary engine
in the car world :)
