Use a needle valve to change the amount of dynamic pressure
applied to the top chamber. Just a small controlled leak would also
probably work.
Unfortunately this super simple scheme won't work on the Mikuni 48 mm.

Paul,
I like the idea of a simple system, but I don't believe a controlled
leak will work.
An incredibly small leak will foul up a vacuum system. The worst part
is a tiny tweak to far and the piston falls all the way causing the
engine to
stop. Even at high altitude I really don't want that to happen. I
really believe
that fuel [level] is the way to go here.

OK here is an illustration of such a system.

Would it be feasible to use a mass flow meter with controller for
leaning these carbs via the main gas line downstream of a low pressure
pump? Obviously both carbs would hopefully get the same stream, (or 3
if a 20B is intended). I have no idea but I thought I'd ask.

If I am going to use a mass air flow sensor I might as well go full
EFI :)
I am not too happy about the price of suitable motor cycle carbs.
BTW I have given up
on the multiple hole idea in the slide throttle as I can't insure
the mixture will not screw up when the transition is made from
one hole to the next. I am back to the one hole ramp version.
Still in the running is the simple and cheap PICAXE controlled PWM
fuel pump.

Well, I was looking at a new Omega Instrumentation CD I got today and
saw they had mass flow metered control units for as little as $375. I
have no idea if the idea will work for leaning, but I thought I'd ask.
