"torque peak is above your cruise rpm"
"peaky power curve"

What is peaky about these power curves?

We don't have a P-port with a narrow power band let alone "very narrow"
band or torque with "peaks". It is probably difficult to build a rotary
with a narrow power band. I don't know how to build one.
If you know how to build one please tell me :) I might find a use for it :)

The Power Sport engine is using a smaller runner. Probably around 1.75 inches.
HP is well down from the 1 7/8 ID runners we used on the ACRE engine.
Max torque in the Power Sport engine is less than 200 foot pounds about
the same as ours. However power is off by 30 HP compared to the ACRE engine.
6000 RPM is the optimum cruise RPM for the rotary. That is where the
bearing loads and the BSFC are a minimum.

Paul, Is the Powersport a P-port?
George ( down under)

Yes it is. The butterfly are mounted right in the rotor housings
and it is fuel injected.

Here is a better comparison plot. This one is the Power
Sport 1 3/4 inch tube OD dyno curves overlaid on the Weber 28 inch
long 2 inch OD runner version dyno curves.

There is a dramatic improvement  in the torque and HP
for the 1/4 inch larger diameter runners. The torque and there
fore the HP is falling off dramatically on the Power Sport engine
at 6100 RPM. The Power Sport engine is totally unsuited to a 2.85:1
gear box where max RPM is 7500. To put this number in perspective
for the new people the stock RX8 engine is red lined at 9000 RPM
and makes max power at 8500 RPM.

I chose to compare the Power Sport engine with the 28 inch runner
version as the torque peak RPM is much closer to that of  the 25 inch long
ACRE version.

Here are some pictures of the Power Sport p-port engine.
