Paul,
I have a kit for a Holly that is specifically made to allow leaning. I
think it is for a 2-BBL. I saw a V-6 Chevy installed in an RV-6 that
was using this method, so I have to assume that it worked. Do you know
if these are still available? If you don't want to use a Holly, then
maybe this unit could be made to work with your latest version of the
slide-throttle which incorporates the fuel bowl-.

That is a good idea Mark. I wonder if that company is still in biz.
It is not clear to me how it works.
Paul Lamar ...No rotor no motor.
Paul,
Me too. It was given to me and is pretty old. It was given to me by my
dad who has passed away. I think someone gave it to him. There are no
instructions in the box either. I tried to look up p/n 34-106 on the
Holley site but couldn't find any information. It seems to reason with
the current price of gas that someone would be marketing such a device.
The two wires that go to the float bowl appear to attach to some type of
specialized solenoid. Also, there is a controller with a knob that is
labeled "LEAN" and "RICH". There is also a slider switch that is
labeled "AUTO" and "FIXED".
In my earlier message I mentioned a Chevy powered RV-6 using this
system. I now think that was not totally accurate. His device had a
cable-operated lever. It probably adjusted the float level. That seems
easy enough to do as the Holley float bowls make adjusting the float
level very easy. We ought to be able to design a way to adjust this on
the fly. Maybe a simple rod that pushes against the float forcing the
float lower in the bowl, overriding the pre-set float level. Seems easy
enough to do, but not sure it would actually work.
Another way might be to use a PICAXE to control a stepper motor. The
stepper motor would screw the needle & seat up or down, changing the
float level. The old style Holleys had the needle/seat pointing up.
Seems that this style would be the easiest one to use.
