I started working on the engine again today and found some less than
desirable attributes with the old semi-auto
bell housing I have.  Mainly interference with the starter motor.

Do you know if the RX-8 housing will mate up with the and 2nd gen 13B
engine.  Having the starter come in from the rear will give me a lot

more

room to fit an CVT inside for the turbo-compound.

Any pictures, or diagrams would be appreciated.

Yes I think it will. As I recall the RX8 housing has one additional
bolt but that should not be a show stopper.

Hey that Bell housing looks robust, and spacious as well. I estimate the
length to be about 10 to 11 inches.  Are the bell housing and starter

motor

showing up in junk yards yet?

I don't know. I just bought an RX8 auto tranny engine from a junk yard in
Northern California so perhaps he still has the tranny.
Dave Lemon did the deal for me so he knows the name of the junkyard.
I will forward this to him.

!! Not at all sure about ring gear diameter, location, and starter for the
RX8 auto trans.

I think a second gen flex plate and starter will fit.
If worse comes to worse we can use your RX8 flywheel on the p-port
RX8 dyno motor. :)

Since the torque reversal absorber plate will be forward and outside the
bell housing at the connection with the sun gear Bell 47 PSRU input plate, I
don't really need a flex plate although it is probably lighter then the fly
wheel starter gear type.

Simple question.  Are the RX-8 auto and manual bell housings identical in
design?

You should know that the aluminum racing starter ring gear you witnessed me
receiving from my racing buddy is smaller  in diameter than the standard 13B
2nd gen starter gear diameter.  To bad. It was lightweight. Perhaps it might
fit the Renesis engine.
