Are you in contact with the gentleman Tomoo Tadokoro in this picture
on the lower right. I would like to bounce some apex seal
ideas off him.

Mostly a metal composite apex seal with high strength steel
1mm dia. round bars or 1mm dia. cable embedded or cast into the special
cast iron 2mm thick body.

His company Micro Techno appears to be in Hiroshima so perhaps the phone
book would work.

The goal is to add toughness, or, if the seal does crack, retain
the cast iron pieces inside the rotor housing slot so they cannot scratch
the chrome wear surface.

Hi Paul,

Sorry I don't know the guy.  I strongly suggest you write a very simple
letter saying you read about him in the RX-8 book and was very impressed
with his work. In easy English in 25 words or less explain what you are
doing and note your website and newly published book.

Be warned though, cold contacts from people not personally introduced get
cold responses in Japan. It is not like SOCAL where you can meet someone and
within an hour of conversation have carnal knowledge:)  OK ...yes I'm
exaggerating a little bit. It usually takes a few hours longer:)

On the other hand over here we can get naked and sit in outdoor hot spring
pools with complete strangers.  Country of contradictions this is or more
accurately a country of situational agreed behavior.  Logic does not apply.

I'll look up his address for you and ask at the office Monday if we have any
contacts with the company.
