Hi Paul,
Is there any history in Mazdatrix on welded Pports?
Have they been doing them for sometime, or is yours their first welded
Pport?

As far as I know Mark Steitle was the first at my suggestion.
However there is a long, 30 year history of P-ports and somebody
somewhere
has probably tried it before. What the results were I do not
know of course.

Too bad it appears none of us are into autocrossing.. We could
group-build an engine with mods like this, go thrash it mercilessly and
see how it lasts.
I've actually been kind of tempted to buy an old Bayliner and replace
the Volvo with a souped-up 13b and run it as a moving dyno. Could test
lots of stuff and probably have some fun water skiing along the way.
Except that you have an unlimited cooling source (easily remedied), what
could be a tougher environment?
How tough to bolt a 13b up to a stern drive? How's the Coast Guard on
experimental engines. I think that as long as you have life jackets,
bilge pumps, a fire extinguisher and spark arrestor on the intake,
they'll let you go at it..

I think Atkins still sells the water cooled exhaust manifold and
the bell housing that adapts the engine to a marine transmission.
