Dear Paul

I am very interested in converting 13b or renisis engines into marine
engines.   How far has anyone got with the large diameter axial exhaust
turbine?

My plan is:

    * Kerosine / Jet 1 fuel
    * High pressure fuel injection
    * Merchanical supercharger
    * Smartplug ignition system
    * Possible requirement to bleed off some boost from the
      surpercharger to inject into exhaust stream - plenty of unburnt
      fuel from the kerosene.
    * Inject hot water from the engine cooling system to make steam.

Of course the marine drive will be Jet - (robust, light weight, rotary -
invented in NZ).  We have a jet drive, made here, maintaining efficiency
up to 6600 rpm - no need for a gear box.

Thanks

One guy in Western Australia was fooling around with the idea but I think
he gave up, Not for technical reason but the race organizer outlawed it
in advance. He planned on using this R3350 turbine.

Paul Lamar ...No rotor no motor.

Question:

Given the current state of development and near term vision of the
hardware/software, could Turbo compounding work on a car engine with
very frequent and broad throttle transients, like in a Road Race Car.

Mike Zucco

Could work but it will take a lot of R&D.

Not something anybody is going to do under the shade tree.
