For what its worth if you have a SIP phone or SIP software and use a
ITSP / SIP
proxy service and can connect ether directly or can connect via another
ITSP to
"pulver" you can make toll free calls from overseas to the US and
several other
countries as well through them, you do need a good broadband connection
for it
work. Also certain times of the day work much better than others, at least
that's what happens from Australia. I have a 40 Megabit connection
(Yes approx 5 Megabytes per Second) I use and even that goes down hill,
when traffic on the web is very high at night.

I think they call that Voice Over IP here in the states.
I have it at the house. Works great unless the power goes off
or the connection goes down.

Yes, they sure do but there is more than one form of VOIP
They call it that here but you need to which type
eg we have these protocols all of which are VOIP.
SIP, Skype, H323 & a number of others ones as well.

I was being specific about which type it was sorry.

Our Avaya PBX currently uses H323 for the VOIP.
