They all use Cosworth V8 turbos as a spec engine. The only place a
rotary is used is in the star Mazda formula series and the GT
championship in Japan. The FIA banned it from use everywhere else.

They are also used in the ALMS or Rolex GT series in the US. The Speed Source
RX8 dominated the beginning of the series this year until the organizer
made them carry more weight. Competitors claimed the car was unfair
because it was too light in weight. Of course it is light weight.....stupid
the 240 HP engine weighs only 200 pounds. Sheeeesssssssss!!!!!
Any rules that specify a minimum weight for a racing car handicaps
the rotary engine.

They change the "rules" race by race.
If you want to win I suspect you have to pay big bucks under the the table to
some one in charge. This is not really CAR racing. It is some kind of phony
publicity stunt. If I were spending $100,000 and up a year on racing I would
look elsewhere. The rules should be the same for everybody.

Same goes for Lemans where diesels are given an unfair advantage.
Of course hundreds of RX7s are raced in the SCCA road racing series.

in the national run offs last year in his second gen E production
