BTW boundary layer rakes are not hard to make. Here is one I made for Tracy.

It's a little tougher to get an idea of BL profile when it is only expected
to be about 1" thick. I saw a really nice design using small pitot tubes
stuck into the side of a curved larger tube; curved from horizontal to
vertical, so near the surface the tubes were very close together. I think
for now I will forego measuring the BL, and just try some ways to overcome
it.

BTW Al As I recall we measured positive pressure on the top of the left rear
strake of Perry's Long EZ for some strange reason. Perhaps you should
measure
the pressure in the area of the oil cooler outlet. I can search the old
messages
if you wish.
BTW if you want to fly up to Santa Paula I could help you with the pressure
measurements. I have all the materials and two or three manometers lying
around. If not I could drive down next weekend in the RX8 and bring a bunch
of stuff with me.
That is a very generous offer, but I'll not take you up on that just yet. I
have sent my EC2 off to my son in Boulder for further fixes on the EC2 (he
is an expert on microprocessor design, and has designed after market ECs).
It seems the EC2 will not accommodate my combination of composite airplane,
3-rotor engine, and my electrical system design. That is a long story I
don't want to get into here, but we have encountered RF noise issues,
electrical noise issues, and some designs flaws associated with adapting the
two rotor version to the 3-rotor. I'm not sure I'll have it back by this
weekend.
I have a monometer setup for measuring two separate pressures that I made
for doing flow tests on the rads and cooler before installation. I will use
that for measuring the delta P across the cooler, and the pressure at the
exit. I've only figured out how to get two tubes into the cooler enclosure,
so this setup will work for now. I'll try taping the strake/wing crack in
front of the exit, and a fowler flap on the exit of the wing root rad on the
other side. The temp measurements will tell me if it is doing any good.
This week the high temps at Ramona will be about 100F. That helps me be
less frustrated about not being able to go flying:-)
