Perhaps this is a good time to reveal or lay to rest my concerns about
mounting a rotary engine from one end. No doubt a front housing can be
designed to be strong enough to support the total weight and bending moments
the engine, PSRU and prop places on it but IMHO this housing is not the
rotary engine's Achilles heel. This is afterall an engine that is sandwich
bolted together with LONG bolts known to stretch a bit in normal operations.
Lycs. and Contis. split the engine cases along the axis which is inherently
stronger but more so the engines were designed to be supported from one end
from the get go. I've procrastinated long enough on this point believe
me:). I am modifying the engine mount frame to be able to bed mount the
rotary engine. I could be totally wrong on this but at least I'll sleep
better at night.

I totally agree. Mazda and God did not intend this.
The prop torque is 2.85 times the engine torque. About 600 foot pounds
for a p-port. The engine must pass this torque all the way back to the Lycoming
dynafocal mounts. Not to mention the shear and bending forces in a 6 G encounter.
In the case of a schertz beam mount this torque goes only through
the bell housing.
Mazda beefed up the four rotor with carbon fiber plates top and
bottom when they used it as part of the chassis in a race car.
In the case of Mistral since they are building their own housings
they can design or redesign them accordingly.
Good call Doug.
Paul Lamar ...No rotor no motor.

Larry---you can be 'the man' for rotary engine adaptation.....
I vote for a cast bellhousing with integral provisions for an oil driven cs
prop oil supply and a pump pad (building upon Tracy's experience with his cs
unit!). Cast option for Cosmo and FD AT type bellhousings! (Ask me for
specifics) Gives more choices for props-I like the American Composites ones

Also-We all need a new front/rear cover that mates to standard dynafocal
mounts (lyc IO360 type!) with a new water pump/water pump type location, and
a few pads for accessories like the prop gov, etc. (Cozy Girrls were talking
about doing this but it hasn't happened)
I have more suggestions, like a water pump with integral back up alternator
being built for American cars by one firm, that could "bolt up" to the
"rear" cover. Also need the brackets, etc to go with it-for the alt, ac, you
name it.
Model them after the Mistral items.....!
No mags...use the stock ignition that came with the 13B or 20B.....or get an
aftermarket electronic....
20B and 94 13B AT model engines (like Cosmo with extra hole and
starter pad different than the MT engines!)
