Hi Jerry,        Consider doing a weight reduction on Tracy's drive.
First realize that his drive is designed to transmit 300 HP. There are 6
planet gears.....press out 3 pins and you have reduced the capacity to
150 HP. Mill away some of the excess steel in the carrier housing. The
ring gear is soft enough to be machinable......lathe turn half of it
into dust. (you'll need to make a ring to position the gear again....use
aluminum @ 1/3 the weight of the steel removed). The idea is to open it
up and remove as much HEAVY STEEL as you can. The shafts and gears are
highly stressed and untouchable hard so they're not worth considering as
easy weight reduction candidates. And as Paul said, much weight can be
removed from the housing. I think the total weight could be reduced by
1/3,maybe more depending on what HP level you want to transmit. This
will void your warrantee!   Food for Thought.     Dave M

Taking some pinions out is not a good idea. The planet carrier and pinions
are less than 3 pounds. They are very hard to get out anyway.

The peak torque is the same as the two rotor.
Just happens once per rev and not twice per rev. Gear boxes are primarily
designed for torque. The rest I agree with.
