Paul here is a drawing of the stock CH 701 engine mount hard points
on the firewall.  I am also sending a couple of scans from the plans
which show a Rotax engine mount. They show the leaned back firewall.
The angle is 107 degrees.     I intend to run the p port  intake to
the left nostril.  I don't have a firewall to prop flange distance
since I don't know what redrive will be used.  Can  you draw it with
6 inches of space between the water pump pulley and the firewall?
Can the upper hard point be used for a strut?

Also, I am concerned about the doubly shortened oil pan (one rotor
plus S-beam notch )  How would you plumb an additional tank firewall
mounted?

Sure.
--  Couple of questions. How far up from the bottom of the firewall
are the lower hard points?

How long is the cowl from firewall to prop flange?

For the Rotax the prop flange to firewall is  760 mm (approx 30 in)
and from the bottom of the firewall to the lower points is 1.5 in.
Prop flange distance is not critical as I will make my own aluminum
cowl.

Well if you can cut it down to 20 inches or so you can save some  weight
in the PSRU by making it shorter. That will help the weight and  balance
as I can move the engine back closer to the firewall.

What do you think of the home made PSRU so far?

I have just had a minute to look at the drawing.  First impression
is  very positive but I need to study it more closely.  .

Length to prop flange:  We can save one inch by reducing the
distance from firewall to water pump pulley to five inches. This
might be further reduced due to  the angle of the firewall which
should provide some  additional space.  The single rotor block is
about 12 inches long to the bell housing.  So it looks like firewall
to flange will be around 17 inches plus the drive.   One advantage is
that the intake will NOT run over the top of the engine.  I am
looking forward to see how it looks. Jerry
