I plan to run the intake to the left cowl nostril.  It will go into a
filter- box that has a flapper option (cable) in event of icing.
Right now, I am thinking about putting a carb  (or mechanical fuel
injection) on it.  If I use a carb I will pull the butterfly out of
the throttle body

why would you pull the butterfly out? Replace it with what?

Given the amount of problems people are having
with their computer driven EFI's,  that option has lost its appeal.
Besides I am not a computer guy and definitely am not looking forward
to endlessly fiddling with one. I can well understand how a savvy
computer person might feel differently.

I agree completely, The current crop of EFI problems would worry the
life out of me. Perry Mick's stock RX7 EFI is one of the few that are
trouble free.

I would be interested in hearing what are my options.  Also I would
love to see a drawing of the intake with a carb .  Are  you familiar
with the Aero Carb?  Photo attached.     Jerry

I have fiddled with that Aerocarb quite a bit; it is well made but the
biggest size is 40 mm, last time I checked. It will flow 125 HP on a
Jabiru so I guess it would be OK on the single. I still think the
Mikuni flat slide, 42 up to 48 mm is a good option, since they have no
history of icing.
