hi  Jerry,    i have watched the 701's fly at Oshkosh many times
and always marvel at their
performance, however as an Old pilot, who is not as bold as he
was  at 20 i would recomend you
fall a few of those trees and give yourself a better chance at
staying out of the accident

PS those harley belts look promising, the fellow in
canada, i think his co. was GAP, said he was developing a light
weight planetary at about
25#, that was a couple yrs ago. been meaning to talk to him again
soon. if we can get enough
fellows together to make a good group buy you can count me in.

Just haul in some dirt :)

A ski jump ramp at the other end will help braking greatly if you
have to abort
or if you are going too fast to stop. The centrifugal force pushing
the airplane
down as it transitions to the ramp enhances braking and you get a
little
help from gravity. Make it low enough so you would hit the top of
the trees long
before you hit the top of the ramp on take off.

Here is another idea.

Place two short retractable tail hooks out board of the main axles
to pick up an
arresting rope lying on the ground with sand bags tied to the ends.
The nose
wheel will run right over it. Grass is slippery. Wet grass is REAL
slippery.
I totaled a BMW 720 at Hockenheim when I went off into the grass :)

My brother often uses a similar technique on his float plane. Go in a circle
and jump the wake. Keeping back elevator highly recommended unless you have
scuba tanks on board:)   What happens to Jerry's uphill wing when he is at
the cross wind leg of the round about?

It is pushed down but it is going faster than the down hill wing
so it has more lift pushing it up. One needs to "fly" it around
the banking using ailerons and rudder. If the wind is really strong
you don't need the banking to take off.
