Subject: O2 sensor mounting

Hi All-

Now that I have my newly-updated EC2 and EM2 back in place, I wanted to wire
in the O2 sensor to enable auto-tuning mode before I try for a startup
again.  The suggested O2 sensor, unfortunately, requires a 18mmx1.5 thread.

A tough tap to find.  Worse, it requires a 16.5mm pre-drill -- even harder
to find.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to get my hands on either/both of these
without spending an arm & a leg?

Magic words are Metric Hand Taps http://www.mcmaster.com/ Cost one arm.

Magic words are Metric Drills http://www.mcmaster.com/ Cost one leg.

Or if worse comes to worse a 41/64th will work.

Also try Enco or Airgas or Rutland Tool and Supply

Mark,

I believe the conversion from 16.5 mm to inches is .650 (that's 650 thousands in
machinists-speak).

If you use a 41/64 dia. drill (.640") it likely will cut somewhat oversize
(they always do) by about (roughly) 2-4 thousandths.  That would make the diameter
about .644" (slightly undersize) - a tight fit.  This would probably work just fine,
though...

Were you REALLY picky, you could use that 41/64 dia. drill, then use an
adjustable reamer to ream the hole exactly to .650 dia...  That way you don't have
to buy a metric drill and you can use the reamer for other jobs as they come up.

Best...
