Here is a site that might stimulate your thoughts or put the to rest forever
the idea of starter generators.  I worked out the rpm the rotary would drive
them at if the pulley where sized to turn the engine over easy. That would
be close to 16,000.  Way to fast. That combined with the fact that they
wouldn't have enough power to start a high compression rotary engine.  These
starter generators and are designed to start 25 Hp garden engines that would
be lucky to make it to 3,500 rpms.

Another bubble burst:)  and back to installing the aluminum starter ring
gear.  It weighs 1.8 kgs and I could probably drill some more lightening
holes in it to reduce it to 1.5 kgs.
