Today's F1 race was an exception. Most look like video games. They
are run on flat, featureless, billiard smooth, artificial circuits
where the only reason shocks matter is because they cut corners and
run over the dragon teeth.
The only reason this race was interesting is because the Bridgestone
intermediate rain tires suck.
I prefer ALMS sports cars or the Aussie V8 super cars which are as
close to the good old days of Trans Am racing as you can find these
days.

I would hardly call Monaco a flat, featureless, billiard smooth,
artificial circuit.
Well I have never seen an Aussie V8 super car race but when you have
a 6 liter live axle Corvette running at the back of the pack with a
Pontiac
sedan equipped with an independent rear suspension winning, beating a
bunch of Porsche's
in the bargain, there is something seriously wrong with the so called
"rules". One
must be mechanically challenged to buy that nonsense. I guess GM paid ALMS
organizer
big money to have that happen.
I guess maybe you are referring to the ALMS "sports cars".
All with the same Riley chassis and body with all makes of piston engines
sucking air
through tiny restrictors so they don't blow up during the race. Where is
the engineering
challenge in that? I want to know if car A is better than car B. That is
what
car racing has been and should be. I darn well know a Pontiac sedan wont'
beat
a Corvette on a road course. Same goes for a silly Cadillac. Its
insulting.

True driving talent comes out in the rain...even with inferior rain tires.
The Michelins were acknowledged to be better when they were allowed.
FIA rules (other than quashing the rotors) and F1 are the pinnacle of auto
racing.
Jim Clark was still the best.
