The CAS has some moving parts, the failure of any might shut down the
engine.  In the interest of safety and reliability should it be
removed and replaced by a "wheel" bolted to the eccentric shaft
pulley with a built in reluctor?   No moving parts would be the
advantage.   Two reluctors at 180º could signal two separate dual
lead coils to make a redundant electrical system for the single
rotor.   Is this a good idea?    Jerry (not quite as dumb as yesterday)
