Thanks Petri. That was a lot of work.
The Appendix C on this one is the real meat of the turbo compound
rotary.

Unfortunately NASA did not fund the hardware to test these conclusions.
Everyday a Mazda rotary flies somewhere in the world proving once
again that
NASA made a huge mistake in not pursuing this further.

Thanks a lot for doing this and Paul thanks for posting them. This
stuff is
priceless. Wish we could contact some of these researchers and pick
their
brains. The SCORE engine looks purpose built and what a elegant piece of
equipment it tis.

It looks to me that someone skilled enough to make a P-port housing out
of a stock one, could also modify a stock housing to at least one of the
configurations - the lead spark plug could be the main injector, and the
trailing plug hole could be modified to be the constant flow injector
along with the spark plug.... IMHO ;-)

It is not that easy. This is the hottest part of the engine
and the cooling passages must be very carefully worked out.
Mazda is still making changes in this area after 40 years.
Modern FEA and CFD might help.
BTW a lot of this "data" is highly suspicious. Particularly some
of the BSFC's estimated. I think it is going to take a cast
iron rotor housing that will tolerate and retain more heat
to achieve anywhere near these extraordinary BSFC claims. Also some of the
work done on super high pressure fuel injections system by
the automotive industry might help.
Here are a few pictures I have on some of this early CW stuff.
The first pictures are the CW engine Mazda copied right down
to the silly high mounted water pump and half speed ignition distributor.
The 4 rotor had split stationary gears which have fallen into disfavor.
The last chart is FMEP or the combustion pressure lost to engine friction.
This partially explains why the rotary does poor on fuel consumption at
low RPM. Car cruise RPM's. It makes a better aircraft engine where
the power levels and RPM are higher.
