My valve was flowing too much in the open position so I plugged the in line
to set up a maximum flow jet. In the process I lost much of the meat for the
connector fitting and had to take it to the welder to get a 1/4 inch plate
added. Got it back late this afternoon and will start with .120 dia. What is
the maximum flow I should be looking for? Karibian
Well my guess on your engine is 180 HP. At a full power BSFC of .65
you will need about 117 pounds per hour or about 20 gallons an hour
max.
Now we need to know what pressure you are dealing with.
Here is a chart for 2 psi. Based on this chart I would say
a .120 dia jet is way too large.
If your system is only 2 psi your six jets will all have to
be around .035 inches in diameter. At 8 psi each jet would be
about .017 or .018 diameter is my guess.
There is nothing stating that you have to squirt fuel in all
six holes. The engine might run fine by squirting fuel
only into the two ports in the center housing. That way you can
run a higher fuel pressure and or larger jets.

I hate it when you're right causes me more work. I flowed the .120 dia.
jet today and filled more than a half gallon in a gallon jug in 45
seconds at 3 PSI.
With this setup I couldn't get the Carter P4070 (4-6psi) pump pressure
over 3 psi. If I still have this problem when I get the jet size closer
to what I need I might have to go back to the Carter MSD2225 (5-8psi)
pump. Karibian

It appears the jet size need to be around .065 dia. at 3 psi for around
20 gals/hr. I tried a # 55 bit first then went to a #52 that was
supposed to be .063 dia. but the stem miked to .066". I should have
tried a #53 bit next.
The Surplus Center sent me a 60 psi gage instead of the 15 psi one that
I ordered and it hasn't arrived yet so I'm using a 30 psi " wet" gage. A
tag on the back of the gage said to cut the nib off the rubber plug in
the top so anytime the gage isn't set down properly the glycerine leaks
out. I put a thumb tack in the hole.
I will check the flow again when the more accurate gage get here. Karibian
