By the way, I'm not as familiar with the Mazda engines as I would like to
be.  I know the ports in the Renesis are in the end and intermediate
housings and the first Mazdas had both intake and exhaust on the periphery.
It appears that the late model 13B and 20B engines had the exhaust in the
periphery and the intakes in the side and end housings, correct?  What do
you mean by "P port"?

P-port stands for peripheral porting.
All early Mazda's had side intakes ports and peripheral exhaust
ports up until the RX8. The RX8 had both ports in the end housings.

In serious racing application peripheral ports are used where allowed
by the rules. Eliminating that right angle turn in the ports
results in a 20% volumetric efficiency improvement.
P-port 13B's were generating well over 300 HP in the 1980's.
In 1991 the 4 rotor Lemans P-port engine was generating 690 HP
at 9000 RPM. Basically two 13B's in a row. 172.5 HP per rotor
or 345 HP for a two rotor at 9000 RPM. You can now down load
