I'm new to the group and I was referred by someone building the same
aircraft; a Christavia Mk4.
I see a "peripheral port" 13B engine mentioned frequently and apparently it
can be developed to deliver a significant amount of power. I am going to
build my 4 seat aircraft as a float plane so I'll need 200 hp or more.
Additionally, torque will be more of a requirement in this application than
for a low wing aircraft like and RV-4 or CA-65 Skyfly. What is the
naturally aspirated p-port engine capable of?
What 13B configuration will get me there? The Mazda single intercooled
package looks good as it features many components you can improve rather
than fabricate from scratch. In the US I'm told this package delivered 230
hp. The availability of the engine controller & wiring harness makes this
option desirable in that it may be able to turbo-normalize the 13B at
altitude with these features.
Please advise.

Ken Welter has a Coot and he uses NOS to boost the HP to 300 for
few seconds to get the 3000 pound Coot on the step and out of the
water. Works well. The aircraft jumps out of the water. I have gone
for a ride with him. Ken Welter
