Matt,

From my experience in engine building & development 1" or so away from the
parting line between the port (in head) and header.  I would think this
distance outside of the block port in the rotary should still be meaningful.
I have to admit I have not examined any SAE papers to determine if the EGT
profile of the Wankel is discussed.  This should be an easy topic to locate.
