We got the RX8 p-port rotor housing welded to day and John at
   Mazdatrix starting finishing them off. John is highly skilled
   at this and he is very fast. It only takes him about a half hour or
   forty
   five minutes.  He has ported hundreds of end housings. He does
   beautiful work.

   Next step is build the engine and mount it on the dyno with
   a 58 mm downdraft weber carb to get an idea how much HP a p-port intake
   RX8 engine will generate at 7500 RPM compared to a 13b. In principal
   it will apply to the 16B as both engines are side exhaust.

   If the power is really disappointing we might try the same
   welding trick on a RX8 engine p-port exhaust.

   The mechanical fuel injection is in the NC machine shop.
   After we get a check on power with the Weber carb we will
   install the mechanical fuel injection and see how that
   works over  the RPM and throttle range using EGT and
   fuel air mixture sensors. Since the 16B is the same rotor
   housing width the mechanical fuel injection should work
   on the 16B with no changes. Same goes for the slide throttle.
