I was having a discussion with a group of ricers (college aged)...
and the subject came up regarding using 2 stroke oil in the block for
the rotary.   I remembered a conversation regarding this topic here,
but for the life of me, I couldn't remember the essence of what to
say back to these hot rodders.

Can you take a _brief_ moment and re-enlighten me on why the 2 stroke
 oil can't be used in the rotary block... so I can convey it in a
brief, yet succinct package to them... one of them is my son... and I
don't want him to experiment with MY (HIS HS graduation present from
me!) '81 gen one 12a.

Two stroke oil is for roller and ball bearings. No plain bearings. Idemitsu rotary engine oil is formulated for the rotary. Mobil One
also works well.

Actually, 2-stroke oil is "built" with shorter molecules.  It is
designed to break up easily into small lumps of lubricant, when
aspirated in the carb with fuel vapor.  4-stroke oil is built with
longer molecules so that it will RESIST breaking up and the effects of
fuel vapors which blow by into the crankcase.

Think of 2-stroke oil as a glass of chocolate milk, and 4-stroke oil as
a chocolate malt.
