Current piston options weigh about 120lbs [rotax 912, 123.5lbs], still
trying to locate weight figures on the single rotor mazda...

Bare single rotor Mazda's without PSRU are well over 160 pounds.
No starter, no alternator, no intake, no exhaust and no flywheel.
Set up for an airplane with PSRU and accessories it would be well over 250 pounds.
If you do everything right with a p-port you can get 120 HP at 7500 RPM.

The charged cooled Rotamax all aluminum two rotor weighs 140 pounds with
starter, carb and flywheel. HP is 90 HP at 6000 RPM. With the addition of
a p-port HP could be as much as 200 HP at 7000 RPM. My guess. Here is a
graph of Rotamax  estimated HP and torque with a p-port mod similar to the
p-port and side port AIXRO charged cooled rotary.

I guess I'll have to cross my fingers on this new 1.6 Aluminum Mazda.

Rumor has it it could be as late as 2010. Due to its increased
size it won't be all that much lighter than the current engines.
The advantage will accrue from about 20 more HP in single rotor
p-port form at near the same weight .
