Mr. Lamar, I'm at a crossroads, I'm not a lurker and participate
whenever I feel I can contribute in a positive way. I have a 6 port
Renisis and my quandary is this:
Do I pursue making a intake manifold or
Do I pursue P-porting and going with a velocity stack arrangement like
on your website, or is it even possible with the 6 port?
I really think I would like to stay with the electronic fuel injectors?
If I do P-port do you have instructions/directions? I am afraid that I
will screw up a good engine. We have some wonderful machine shops in
Alaska but not allot of Rotary savvy ones. We have Great Welders too. I
have many friends that work in the Aviation Industry as either welders,
fabricators or mechanics. I am POSITIVE that I want my Homebuilt, Rotary
Powered. I have already had Jerry Hey make up the MM You designed for me
and it's attached (Temporarily) to the firewall.
I guess what I'm trying to say is Help me make up my mind or give me
some direction. I'm not a Mechanical Neophyte, but the Rotary is a
different animal. I'm sure you get tired of answering questions 20
times. If you can send me to the right area on your website with
drawings or instructions all the better. Please help me again, O Rotary
Guru...and thanks for the Past help with the BEAUTIFUL MM.

You did not say which gear box you have. I'll assume it is a 2.85:1.
Lots of choices. You can build an intake manifold out of six
tubes about a foot long with a shoe box plenum and get about 190 HP or so.
That is probably the cheapest thing to do.
Or you can do a p-port with two 2 inch OD tubes about 2 feet long
with a slide throttle and get about 240 HP. I am sure you know that is
an advantage for getting out of short fields. That brings up the
point of what you are going to do with the airplane. The 240 HP
also helps if you are going to cruise long distances at high altitude.
The problem with this RX8 motor p-port is nobody has tried it yet.
I am working on it but it will be a few weeks before we have it dynoed.
It is a bit premature unless you want to be a pioneer.
In both cases Tracy EFI system will work.
The next question is: what sort of shop facilities do you have available?
It usually takes access to a mill to make a p-port. There are people
that will do it down here for a couple of hundred dollars.
In any event I can send you step by step instructions.
