Paul - I was informed that you could help me get an engine mount designed
and fabricated for my turrentine/renesis 4 port project. the original owner
built a very nice integral oil pan/bed mount plate which I would like to
use.   kevin Lane

Here is my design for an RV7A. The 6A would be similar.
The bell housings is the new Larry Childs version.
This is the asymmetrical version with the water rad on the cool
side. I can also do a symmetrical version with the rad under
the engine.

The shertz beam type arrangement seems to allow the exhaust pipes to easily
pass thru inside the mount tubing, rather than outside, and provides a good
mounting points for radiators etc.  perhaps my situation would use double
beams, fore and aft. I haven't thought thru the exhaust system yet.  on my
prior 20b I had the std. 3 to 1 type (Tracy has it now on his rv-8).  again,
I'll have 3 (4?) exhaust tubes to deal with.  one preliminary idea was to
use rad exit air to cool augmented exhaust, altho the space may prove too
tight or curvy.  I would be open to the possibility of converting my plane
to a -6, should that make life simpler up front.   kevin

That is one of the better oil pan mounts I have seen. The pan is welded to the plate
which solves the extra  oil leak problem.  What is the length, depth and width?
It is a challenge I would like to take and see if I can come up with a simple
mount. The main problem with these things is 90% of the load is taken by
the two front rubber bushings. I'll work on something now guessing on the dimensions
for now.

What Jerry Hey does is start with an abbreviated "A" mount that he gets from
Van's motor mount supplier. He then builds the Schertz beam mount off that.

Looks like this will work. That aluminum plate loses 20% of its strength
at 200 F and it is kind of thin around 3/8th inch thick. Should be 1/2 inch.
