"Relatively benign" meaning (in this case) it won't kill you. :-) The
long term dilution of the crankcase oil by 2-stroke might adversely
affect the engine's longevity. IIRC, 2-stroke lacks many of the
anti-shearing (i.e. bearing load) additives that normal crankcase oil
has. But I'm no petroleum/hydraulics engineer.

You should be adding a small amount of crankcase oil for every nn hours.
I defer to those actually running to provide real world numbers (Tracy?
Dave Leonard?) If you aren't adding crankcase oil, (or worse still:
you're draining excess crankcase oil) then you're likely using too much
2-stroke pre-mix.
