Those pics are awesome I just can't figure out why some people had their
backs to the jet on its flyby how could you not be looking at it zooom
by your nose???

Telephoto lens magic. Those houses in the back ground are miles away
from the camera. It just happened to be a real clear day.

I don't think so . . .the "head scale" doesn't look right, comparing the
guys on the boat with the helmet on the pilot.  Also, note the big space
between that boat in the foreground and the ones behind it.  That looks
like the cleared channel.

My guess is that the guys on the boat were watching the "bait" while the
"skunk" was sneaking up behind them at several hundred knots.

So you don't think the lens was telephoto or you don't think the houses
were miles away? :)

The boat looks like a Coast Gard boat. If so the job of the crew was to keep
the boat traffic out of the path of the jet. Perhaps the Coast Gard boat
was also a marker for the pilot.
