One of my hangar neighbors at Santa Paula has come up a new design
and is interested but not yet committed to the twin turbo
charged rotaries. He would like to communicate with Dave Leonard
who has the most turbo rotary experience so far IMHO.

Dr. Jurg Sommerauer is from Zürich Switzerland and knows the
people that started Mistral. Namely the Mecanair folks.

Quote from his web site:
"He has wide experience in composite aircraft construction.
He is an expert in working with civil aviation authorities
such as the Swiss BAZL, the German LBA, and the Austrian BAZL
as well as the experimental aircraft associations.
He and his wife have built an award-winning Glasair RG, had
it certified by Swiss authorities, and had it flown across
the North Atlantic to the United States. He has been
contracted by a Swiss Company to build a wing for extremely
slow stall speed for a special project with successful results.
Jurg built or assisted in projects like Glasair RG, Lancair 320,
Lancair IVP, Swift, Long EZ, Vary EZ, etc.. Currently, Jurg
is designing an all carbon composite twin-pusher high
performance kit plane. Jurg is president and owner of AVI
and directs R & D of AVI and EZE Instruments."

Jurg also did extensive redesign and reconstruction on Dan Wright's
Nemesis Nxt at his Santa Paula hangar. Apparently he travels back and
fourth to Ogden Utah in his Glasair RG :)

I'll be helping him out with proposed 3D installations of rotaries
in his two engine pusher.

We need to indoctrinate Jurg in rotary engine technology :)

Dave Leonard, please contact him at the email address on his web site.

Jurg, here are some pictures of Mistral's new custom turbo charger
specifically designed for the aircraft rotary.

Paul Lamar ...No rotor no motor.

Paul,
That's a fair sized exhaust by-pass, however I'm a believer of bypassing the
exhaust before the turbo for heat reasons. However do you know their target
criteria - how boost is controlled, boost to rpm, AR of inlet (compressor)and exhaust ( Turbine), cooling water or oil, turbine wheel materials used,
who makes the turbo or anything like that which might be of some interest in
comparing with aftermarket turbo's and /or identifying how they control over
speeding the Turbo at high altitude.
George (down under)

I have no idea. Francois is not volunteering that info so far.
BTW here is Jurg's web site.

Paul Lamar ...No rotor no motor.

So Paul, if I read between the lines, he's planning to put the AeroShark into production??
That would be a pretty niffty addition to the world or Kit build airplanes for sure!

Jarrett

I think he is hoping to do that.
