I used 1 1/2 X 1/4 bar stock on the sides and rear and needed 2 X 1/4
inch stock for the front. The sides are 1/8" and the bottom, front and
rear is bent up .080". After getting the flange frame welded I brought
it home to use the stock oil pan to drill the mounting holes and fit up
the rest of it. It is 2 1/2 inches deep in the front and 4 inches deep
in the back and holds a little more than six quarts. The drain is on the
right rear side. Karibian
Paul,
Have there been any problems with oil leaking on an aluminum pans?
My early scrap 13B, had metal plate that went between the bolts to increase
the clamping down force. I am planning to go with a ten quarts Al. oil pan
and wondering if I should use the steel plates. Newer oil pans I noticed
have a lip pressed in around the outer perimeter of the pan effectively
creating a strong shape.

Conceivably yes. It would not hurt to put some thick strips
of metal under the bolt heads. You might need longer pan bolts.
