Hi Paul and All,
Finally got a test configuration together, Made 3 short 1-3 min runs.
Observations:
1. Engine was smooth at Est.1500 rpm.
2. Coolant flow was robust,Cooling adequate for continued tests.
3. Psru gets hot to touch, Return oil flow out, No endplay or lash?
4. Exhaust cherry red, paint on muffler burnt,
5. Sounds great, Like strong motorcycle per my Wife.
Concerns/Questions:
1. Edis-4 timing and tach hook-up?
Does one count the missing tooth on Edis 36-1 wheel as #1 of 9
for 10 degrees advance? I'm useing 1 coil #1 & #4 to fire the plugs?
2. The oil flow schematic in Mazda maint. manual seems to depict an
internal rear housing to front housing path that supplies the oil
injection pump.
I attached an oil press gauge to a fitting on the pump block of
plate, No oil press!
Engine E-Shaft lube was determined by the Psru return flow via .050
orface
on Prop end of the E-shaft.
Whats best place to monitor E-Shaft oil press?
3. Can anyone identify the source of Psru gears from the photo?
Best Regards & Merry Christmas

Congratulations Rolland and Merry Christmas.
The planet carrier looks like an after market drag
racing planet carrier for the Ford C6 automatic transmission.

Rolland,
There are a number of us (at different stages) who are interested in the
single development.
Questions:-
Question1.
Are you running with a flywheel or flexplate. A flywheel tends to smooth out
the severe torque reversals better than a flexplate, however a flexplate is
best for attaching a damper. However could use a lightened flywheel as well.
Question 2.
What sort of damper are you using?
Answers:1
Can't answer the question on the timing wheel, haven't got there yet.
Answer 2.
The question on the 'oil injection pump' - the oil goes from the oil pump up
into the front cover (our back end) through a channel ( in al housing cover)
to the metering pump. Most tend to use 2 stroke oil in a separate oil
reservoir or pre-mix ed with the fuel - rather than the sump oil.
Sorry I can't give more answers!
Keep us informed!
George ( down under)
The metering pump does not use oil pressure. It is gravity fed.
There is an atmospheric vent inside the front cover (car)
on the metering pump shaft.
Timing at the plug should be around 22 degrees BTDC. If that is what
you have you are home free.
As I recall the EDIS defaults to ten degrees BTDC so the missing
tooth is probably set to TDC and the pickup appears to be about
30 degrees BTC. About right but check the timing.
Here is a pdf on the Ford EDIS. Looks like a simple way to
make a stand alone ignition. I am glad you got it running.
