The two speed Powerglide is indeed one of the most popular
transmissions in mid/low class drag racing.
However, there are very few parts from the original PG used
in these units. Something that will handle 500/800hp will run
around $1500./$2000.
A PG trans set up to handle 2500/2800 hp runs about $6500.
and uses no GM parts, (case included). A good, racing converter
will run $1200./$1500. for that same trans.
Input and output shafts are also larger diameter.
