I was reading an article in Kit Planes about the new Rotorway helicopter.
They mentioned in the article that the engine is supercharged. I also
found
on their website that it has an electric water pump. Does anyone have
any first hand knowledge as to how well these items are working?

Bob White flew one for 17 hours. I don't recommend them as they don't
have
the pumping capacity of the stock pump and you risk harming your engine.

Hi Paul,
Actually I only flew 3.8 hours. I had about 11 hours total run time on
the engine. Cooling was marginal, but the primary problem was the poor
location of the oil cooler. As it was set up, I was reaching maximum
temps on a 60F day on climb out. The temps looked good after puling
power back for cruise. My disastrous landing ended further tests.

I'm not too impressed with the engine or the drivetrain of the Rotorway. My
buddy has one and it's sitting in the hangar with a split crankcase. It has
about 180 hours on it and that appears to be a high-time Rotorway. These
guys are all watching John Spurling's project which involves replacing the
whole mess with an Allison 250. According to Experimental Helo, it came out
200lb lighter, which is hard to believe.
