   Did you watch the vid? Seems like a traction drive of sorts. Was
   initially thinking about using for turbocompound, but it seems to use
   fluid as a traction media, and that probably won't work at high RPM.

Its a CVT of Davincis' design. It was called the Nuvinci for a while.
Unless you need a variable PRSU then a gear set will be more effieceint
and durable for your purposes. It doesn't have much positive ratio range
either. Not like you can go from a 1:1 to a 5:1 Works from a heavy
overdrive (down to .33) to a medium underdrive (3:1). In its middle
position it is 1:1. Limits its usage.
