As my first post, has anyone ever made that turbo compound rotary that
you describe on the webpage work, and do the results measure up to the
hype?

I don't know. Pratt & Whitney Canada has applied for a patent
so I would not be surprised if they built the hardware or are
building the hardware. You will probably see it on
a US Army helicopter first. Should double the range.
Perhaps on a smaller tilt rotor too.

We don't think they will get a patent or will not be able
to defend it as NASA proposed it back in the early 90's.
There is no doubt in my mind it will work if somebody does
the homework. The CW R3350 TC certainly worked as does the new
Detroit Diesel and Scania turbo compound truck engines.
The rotary has a HUGE advantage over all these engines as
there is no exhaust valve to waste kinetic energy.

I can't wait until somebody builds a turbo compound rotary
engine and races it at Lemans or some other endurance race where
fuel consumption is a factor. As long as the rules are fair to the rotary
no other engine in the world would have a chance.
