Yeah, this mentality of "Scrap" was hard to swallow at the OEM level. I
saw Vipers, Mercedes, and various high end Japanese cars go to the
shredder as "Scrap".  All of them new. But the hardest was the VM 2.8L
diesels that would have bolted in my Jeep Rubicon going to the shredder.
At least someone appears to have listened to my drum beat of selling
diesel Wranglers here - Mopar is supposed to announce a crate engine
swap package at the MOAB Easter Jeep Safari next week.

Great story.  Gave me nightmares though:) Rappeling down into a dark ship
that could sink any moment and full of cars hanging from their tie down
straps. No way.  I'll stick to something more safe like cruising at 12K in a
little container with wings:)   Mazda profited immensely from this little
mishap.
