Subject: turbo output for air cooling of rotors ?

   Hi All -

been reviewing the info on the Midwest air - cooled rotary and  other
charge - cooled ones.  was thinking that the belt -  driven  fan could
be  replaced by the compressor  half of a turbocharger , sized
appropriately and driven by radial or axial hot - half turbine.
notwithstanding the heating effect of the (turbo ) compressor half  on
   the cooling air.

Could this maybe be combined with turbocharging and / or  power
recovery , with  the same rotor cooling fan driven by a reduction  or
   constant - speed drive ?

I know that would leave the issue of the air - oil separator , but it
would in theory recover wasted energy and leave the crankshaft to
power the prop and engine systems.

My other idea is oil cooling of the outside on smaller engines , as on
BMW " Oil - Head " R series and Suzuki GSX - R series. Suzuki went
back to water cooling about 10 years ago as I recall.

IMHO it is just better to copy the Mazda rotor cooling and scale it
   down.
These other rotor cooling schemes all have problems.

Paul Lamar ...No rotor no motor.

Small correction here----

The Midwest is not only air cooled. The air charge picks up oil and in
effect it is oil-mist cooled. Without the oil it is not Midwest, it is
toast.
