Sounds like great fun but I will be in Florida at Sun n Fun.
I will also be in the pits for the Miami GT race on the 29th of
March where the RX8 's are running.


I am real sorry to miss this air race.
I think you will do well in this class.

"Fastest Mother-F'er. The course distance (111.1) is
divided by time enroute to determine average groundspeed.
The pilot with the fastest speed wins this category."

If I were you I would go out and practice as terrain and being
familiar with the course will be major factors.

I think you need to check about flying through the Apple Valley
and Barstow air space. I would think you may not want to climb
out at best rate and that might give you some problems with Apple
Valley. Same for coming back.


Wheels on the ground
coming back is an accident waiting to happen so be real careful
there. Could be chaos. Not smart. It will be a fairly close race.
It looks like they are going to flag them off at rather short intervals.

It would be far safer to have a 500 foot flyover finish line.
You might suggest that to the organizers.

Winds aloft will also be a major factor. It is easy to find
30 Knt winds out there. Especially coming back.
