Sorry to be so late with this, Paul...
I realize that you've probably already come to a decision about the OCR
conversion of some of your scans, but I just discovered the same problem
here when I scanned a document and wound up with the text in a bunch of
boxes in Word.
I realized then that I had the OCR program set to save it as an .rtf
file (formatted file type)...I changed that to .txt, and it converted
fine without the boxes.
So, it may simply be a matter of setting your OCR program to save the
results as .txt instead of whatever it is set to now.
Or, it might not...depending on what program you are using. Mine came
with my Epson scanner and did a very decent job.

My Read Iris Pro OCR prog. does not like the column's for plain text.
Dan has the original file and is doing an excellent job.
What kind of OCR are you using Dan?
Here is the original file.

Paul Lamar ...No rotor no motor.
I downloaded a new version FS. I had a good program but it must have got
lost when I redid my computer. I did a whole POH for the Viking this
same way it came out better than the original. I then had someone local
(Golf buddy) make a booklet. I put a picture of my Viking in color on
the cover instead of the original.
