Question for anyone, is there more than one type of oil pan /
   sump for
      the Renesis (RX-8) engine
If there is does anyone have pictures of them
Even if there isn't does anyone have pictures of their stock oil
   pan I
      just need these for comparison

      Thanks

      Regards David

There was an AD out in the early days. They may have changed the oil
pan. On the other hand they may have just reprogrammed the computer.

Here are some shots of the Rx8 oil pan I have.

   Paul,
Very interesting.  I had not seen an 8 oil pan.  Is that a good
application for the aeroplane?  Just Mazdas type baffle?  Slosh
   preventer?  Looks like its composite.

It sucks big time. Huge breathing problems. When I first got my RX8
you could cruise down the freeway at 75 MPH and the low oil light would
come on. Slow down to 70 for a few minutes and the light would go off.
Speed back up to 75 and the light would soon come on again. Mazda
   did something
and it stopped doing that. I think they changed the software. Tracy
   ran it for
awhile and he had to add an elaborate breathing system to recover the
oil vapor. Jerry Hey builds deeper pans that can hold up to 10 or twelve
quarts which helps oil cooling on takeoff.

Its made of steel except for those plastic parts inside.

Paul,
Is the pressure and or the volume greater in the Renesis than the 13B or
20B?
I wonder if Tracy has done any flt testing of the 20B yet?  And what if
any kind of oil vapor breather / baffling, like on the Renesis.
Just designing more capacity like you and Jerry have done with the 10  -
12 qt  pan would seem to be best.
Dave D

I suspect the oil pressure might be higher in the RX8 as the rotor bearing
is the limit to RPM and higher oil pressure helps.

My O-470 230 HP Cont. has 12 quarts :)
