A question I had in the back of my mind for a long time.  With the
future 16X with more torque and HP is Mazda going to sell a small
economical car with one rotor?

I dont think Mazda has ever sold a car with one rotor?  With the current
price of the RX-8 a one rotor economical car would not be possible?  A
mass produced economical one rotor car would spread the cost of
producing the rotary engine would it not?

In any case, the first time I got in a car with a rotary engine was back
in 1974.  It was a small an economical passenger car.  I dont recall the
model but I was quite impressed with this new technology.  Paul out of
those 5 models R100 coupe, R130, RX-2, RX-3 and RX-4 which models did
not make it to America?  This would help to narrow down the model I
tried.  My friend told back then.  That the Apex seals were under
garanty and would be change for new ones.  And that Mazda was actively
searching for the right Apex seals.

I don't think so. The cost would be too high. The engine factory was built
years ago so the cost of building the rotary is higher than piston engines.
It is not like you can find 10 companies in the world making rotors.
