Hi Paul,

Just getting ready to watch the Brazilian Grand Prix.  Rain?

Before the race, a report for next year rules for the F1 are changing
the Aerodynamics.  Finish these elephant ears and the like :))  Also the
sleek tires are coming back.

They will look more like the 1990-91 models.  They wish to improve the
action during the race.  Too much turbulence behind the leader was
responsible of failure in the aerodynamics of the following cars etc.

I will say one thing. Timo Glock will never drive for Ferrari in his life time :) He moved over and handed the driver's championship to Lewis. Prior to that he was gaining time on Lewis from fifth place. That's what it looked like to me. I watched the pass several times in slow motion on my TVIO.

As to the 2009 changes... one of the dumbest is making the rear wing span less. All that is going to do is burn more fuel and generate even larger vortex's behind the car. The smarter thing to do is raise the rear wing five inches and make it as wide as the car. That will improve the down force to drag ratio, reduce the vortex's and improve the MPG.

The new Kinetic Energy Recovery System mandated next year will make championships for both driver and manufacturer wide open. The Formula 1 people are wining about the inability  of drivers to pass. A little more technical freedom in the rules will allow passing to happen. As long as you are running spec cars in Formula 1 the pole sitter will win the race most of the time.

Don't get me wrong. I am not one of those crazy you know whats. I am an engineer and most if not all engineers are efficiency fanatics.
