Robin and I would like to see more of the outback.
   We flew all over the eastern part in a C172 a few years
   ago but not west of the center of the country.
   Is there a bus or train from Melbourne to Perth?
   Flying over in a jet you don't see much.

They say it is a good trip.

You should find a friendly Aussie bush pilot.  Driving will take lots
of time.

Been there done that but when you rent an airplane every day it sits there
sucking money while your having fun fishing :) They want you to put  x number of hours on it each day.  We did that for a week flying a C172 all over the eastern half of Australia in 2003. It was lots of fun. Unfortunately the out fit doing the airplane renting is no longer in biz. I love Australia. It's a U.S. tourist bargain. The outback is like the U.S. wild west 200 years ago.
