What exactly do you mean by this George? More torque at any RPM
is more HP at that RPM.

Detonation in the RX8 is not a problem if you don't turbo charge
the engine. The stock 2 mm seals work fine.

Are you planning to turbo charge?

Cross hatch in the seal slot is a leaker on compression. There must be a good seal between the apex seal and the rotor. There fore the finish is important.
If you are planning to turbo the best way is grind the 3mm slot or broach it. Fly cutting it is not a good idea.

If memory serves me well - and it doesn't always, I believe those comments

Mind you I would be happy to find extra hp with the extra compression.

The maths for this are firmly well established, but I often wonder how the
maths are applied at over max torque (when torque is declining)when the Hp
is still going up.

Because the RPM is still going up. Run the number. Do the math.

HP is torque times RPM divided by constant.

Here is an exercise.

I have a torque value of 160 foot pounds at 6000 RPM.
What is the HP?

AT 7000 RPM the torque is only 150 foot pounds. What
is the HP?

The constant is 5250.

Hp= Torque x RPM/ 5252
Hp= 160 (ft/lbs) x 6,000rpm/5252
182.78hp = 160 (ft/lbs) x 6,000 rpm/5252

Hp =150 (ft/lbs) x 7,000 rpm/5252
199.92 hp = 150(ft/lbs) x 7,000 rpm/5252.

I thought using this formula that when the Torque went up the Hp went up -
but never tested it before.

The HP does go up at the same RPM when the torque goes up. That is the key.
